Cool Kiwi Triumph on Marks

Do any of you Kiwi's know the history of this bike? I saw a similar Matchless powered bike at the Canterbury MCC 100th Anniversary at Timaru a couple of years ago. I'm presuming they were made by the same bloke. Whatever the bikes history, it's a cheap bit of quality that might be legal for our pre 65 under the new rules. It's ready for you Jim....It's got your number already .

Hey Firko, TMBill and I came accross a shed full of them when we where "picking" at Easter....was some lovely other stuff there aswell....Bill will remember the name and Bamford knows all about them....very trick!!....mate you would have been running on your crook pegs to see what we saw....I've known the bloke for 15+ years and knew he had some booty stached away but not to the extent of what he showed us, needless to say, it was a very interesting afternoon. I dont think they had seen sunlight for a very long time and the sad thing is he will probably die with them all....what a waste.We scored some good "pickings" while we where there after Bill thought we'd get our marching orders after a few choice comments by me early on.

You've certainly got the knack old mate . Did you or Bill get any photos of the blokes stash? Ray Johnson introduced me to a bloke at Timaru who'd made a bunch of Kiwi built Metisse copies back in the sixties. He reckoned that some made it to Australia and even the US which possibly explains this bikes current home. The Matchless G50 powered bike I looked at was really well made but closer a inspection showed many different aspects to the Metisse, especially the swingarm/rear wheel adjustment set up. I wish I'd got more into the conversation with the guy and learned a bit more of the frames history. I can't remember his name but would he be the same bloke you guys met on the North Island? I got the impression he was a Christchurch local.

Bought by Dave Boydstun at AMS in Arizona and I think the 125 Yamaha/Hindall might just end up there too.
