Pipe ID anyone?
« on: July 06, 2012, 06:02:51 pm »
For the Brains Trust.
A guy bought this for his Husky, it doesn't fit, seems this is for a centre port motor and the Husky is a side port.
Cheap pipe but as usual he got stitched up big time with postage, not to mention being sold the wrong pipe.

So before I chop it to make it fit does anyone know what it belongs to.
Kawasaki has been suggested, but not sure what model.

The header is 2" and the muffler is large which suggests 250 or big bore.

Geoff,

Can you show the attachement points to the frame? I maybe able to ID it from that.

kinda looks F11 to me but eh..just going by the spring hook at the manifold, what appears to be centre port angle and left side fitment.

I don't have the pipe at the moment, that is the only picture that he has sent me so far.
I have asked him for a photo of the back, I will post it up when I get it.

Would this be a pipe from 'the day' or would it have been built recently?
Looks to be in good condition for an old pipe!

Doh! These Homer moments are coming more often ;D.
Hooker pipes were opposition to Bassani, Torque Eng and others in the early 70's. Hooker Headers were a well respected manufacturer of race extractors for the hot rod/musclecar/drag race industry that got involved during the early dirt bike boom. They're well made and in demand by collectors and racers. Cool sticker that goes with them too. A mate bought a whole CZ side piper just to get the Hooker pipe for his own bike back in the early vintage days.

Geoff hi, I have a very similar Hooker header on my 1970 cr400 Husky, it looks the same however the rear cone with the mount on it is 180 /d in the other direction  and the front header has more angle [rising] regards Jimbo

I have the same pipe, i bought off ebay. I tried to make it fit my f8/f9 and you can cross those possibilities off the list.  The angle where the pipe connects to the header is not steep enough. basically the exhaust port should be pointed down more. I am 70% positive the pipe goes on the g4 100cc or g5 125cc.

another reason i think it is for the g5 is because i have not come across another hooker pipe for kawasaki or anybike for that matter with two separate heat shields. i found this on ebay...one of the heat shields and it is listed as g5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Kawasaki-G5-Hooker-Exhaust-Heat-Shield-26237-/151037038278?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item232a824ec6&vxp=mtr
