I wouldn't say it's a stupid price, although it has seen a bit of weather it looks very original! You don't see many with the original baffle  :o

i paid $2000 for my one owner RM250X that was in just as original condition but nowhere near as faded. Given the market at the moment i think its over the top, imo.

Seller reckons the bike spent most of its life chasing cattle. Does that mean the bike is a "dog" or they have fast cattle on their farm...... ;D

It's hard to know with bikes like that I reckon. It's all original and low hours, but if it's life has been flogging around a paddock and then chucked in the shed between rides, it's gonna have a lot of corrosion and wear. So, new plastics or a lot of work on what's there, probably needs all new rubber/perishables like airbox boot/inlet manifold, all those lovely linkage bearings may be shot and so on. I think it's a bike you'd have to have a good look at. Still, it is a solid low hour starting point for a great resto. Price wise, the right price is whatever the market will pay on the day, isn't it?

I paid $2000 US for my RM465Z & it cost me near on 2K to get it to OZ. So you can say it owes me 4K. I must say it's a original bike, but it still could do with a light resto. Good big bores aren't cheap in my view.

It's just a rusty old pig that would need thousands spent on it....a similar bike in the States would be lucky to pull a grand.

Well the difference between this:

and this:

I would guesstimate between $3500 and $4500 which includes sourcing a lot of missing parts as well as replacing a lot of parts. The only thing from the original bike is the chassis/shock and engine, pipe, rear wheel and fork boots. If you are not going to do a lot of the work yourself then the price will blow out obviously. I did everything to this that I possibly could which is the whole point.
Based on the bike for sale for $2k, you could throw $1500ish at it and have a very nice very original one for less than, or close to what I spent and mine one is nowhere near original.
Consider the last '83 KX500 I saw on EBay go for $1700+ in probably slightly worse condition and knowing what the Green is like for parts, this one is on the money IMHO.
