I bought up the concept at our club meeting some time ago and it was shot down in flames before I could even explain myself due mainly to everyone's belief that such a concept would not fly with the likes of Motorcycling Qld. I intend to pursue this concept further as one of the posts above nails it by noting the smiles on faces. Whilst we have a good thing going at mmcc something like this just gives people that don't race but build bikes and wish they could race something that brings them closer to the sport of dirt track.
Ulyses MCC are conducting their AGM in Maryborough next year and I thought that would be a great opportunity for our club to capitalise on a huge number of motorcycle fans to come and have a look or even participate at what we do and pay entry in the process. Something like 4000 members over a couple of weeks are expected so even if 100 pay $25 at the gate to watch us going sideways is a good deal. 1 or 2 may even have a go?
Our club no longer runs the Wide Bay Titles due to the lack of volunteers and the grief from riders from other clubs and the SCB etc (which is a crying shame) so I want to work towards resurecting it and maybe adding a fun day such as this concept to make a weekend of it.
Having said all that, bmcc double the dirt concept doesn't get much interest from the vmx guys with the dirt track so I wonder if I am in the wrong country? By the way I think the Double the Dirt concept is awesome and they have the facilities etc They just need the dirt track prepped properly and more entries on the dirt track day.
Anyway enough dreaming better get back to work!
Cheers,
Steve
