« on: June 23, 2012, 05:30:18 pm »
CZ Boys - would anyone be able to direct me towards a decent set of fork tubes for the newest project which is a 1973 red tank 250?

Many thanks

Do you mean the aluminium sliders or the chrome tubes?

The sliders come up on ebay quite often, new tubes are available from www.crhighperformance.com

Tony,

Thanks for the quick reply. No I meant the chrome tubes. Rust from the tops through to the alloy legs. Mostly the bike is complete and original. Steel tank is rusted too. Appreciate the good info.

I have got a few tubes (!), mainly Marzocchi, Ceriani and Betor.  CZ are on their way and will be here soon.  Typically they are £129 per pair (thats' new, not rechromed used ones)

In the UK CZs can now be used more easily in the championship classes, so CZs are beoming more popular.  Big fast 4 strokes can get very expensive.  By comparison CZs are rocketships for a fraction of the price, no surprise that there has been increase CZs on the line recently.

The tubes are 2 projects away, so will should hopefully see some by the end of the year.

In the mean time there are excellent people doing excellent work with CZs all of whom can help you.

Brad, paid 650 US for rebuilt forks complete, just add oil and go plus double pinch bolt top and bottom clamps which he makes out of 2 pairs of regular clamps including postage.Don't know about the legality of those but he says they were modifying them like this back in the day and aftermarket ones were also available.tried them out at practice day Sat at Biddadabba and liked them a lot.P

Gents, thanks for the great info.

P.  I would like that email for Guy Lee Holth if I could. Not sure what the bloke in Poland has as well. He seems to have all sorts of bits for these things.

Not in a rush so it's good to explore what options are out there. The ones from flower pot could be the go too.

Many thanks Pete

Pete, as you are up in Sweden at the moment why don't you just tell the wife you're going out for a quiet beer, pop across the North Sea to the UK and get a set of fork legs from Flowerpot Racing (Bill & Ben I presume) You should be back by sundown which probably wont happen for a couple of months.

Pete,

Sounds like a good idea. The out for a beer bit happens every day but.  Got onto a wrecker here yesterday that has some worth while bits. You just need to dig them out of the jumble  in the dark. Cool and raining - ah such is Swedish sommer! Tack o Hey.....
