If you want to have a look at the colour I'm using for my new wheels Zane, head to your local supercheap & grab a aerosol can of the Dulpicolor Imperial Gold. It only comes in small cans & I used just over a can to do both hubs both inside & out, 2 cans would be enough for quite a few coats including the front brake plate
I really like the lighter colour compared to my other wheels & being a proper auto paint unlike the other wheels it shouldn't flake off like the brighter stuff has on my rear wheel
I think including the silver I did the steel part of the rear it cost me about $50NZ & a sunny afternoon. Wheels are being built up at the moment so I can't show you a better comparison than this

Although I think your out come is impressive too

I did my wheels with an ACE Hardware (US store) metallic brass that I think looks closer to the original finish which I don't think can be duplicated. I don't care for the really bright gold hubs.

My 73 hubs are actually a dark grey from the factory?
So I am going to go gloss powder coat in dark grey.
Gloss powder coat is durable whilst being very easy to clean.
And mine is on course to look similar to this one of Tony's

Dark grey is what they go after the original treatment disappears, if you look somewhere that doesn't see the sun like between the bearings or sometimes inside the brake housing you may find traces of the original colour

The colour isn't quite right Scott but much better than the bright gold that my other wheels are that has lifted away from the etch primer in places. Should be a lot harder being a touch up paint for cars
Discovered no rim lock hole in the front rim which I'll have to drill when I get back from the states then I have a complete bike to reassemble before round 6 of the series
