Marty Moates at Amaroo Park 1983?
« on: June 01, 2012, 10:20:59 am »
Just going thru some old photos, thought I'd post some here.
There were a lot of international riders there that day, from memory they came out to do a supercross at the Sydney Showground and then raced at Amaroo the following day or weekend.

I'm guessing late '81 or early '82.

I'd be fairy sure it was late '81 and I think Gary Semics won the big one. Jeez I miss that great old track, so much of our motocross history was written in that dusty valley. Let's also remember that it was the venue for Australia's first vintage motocross meeting too ;).

Old Amaroo Park :'(,  geez it looks very different today. I worked there for most of the '90's, so I probably prepped the track for that first vintage meeting for you guys Firko. Lots of memories there.

From memory Marty came down here pretty hard

The ski jump on the main straight

A lot of guys got caught out on the quads before the main straight. Bad design

The meeting was in 1988. Old Ray Price was the track curator at the time and Terry ( ?can't remember his last name) took over after him.

Who else is on the start line. Was it Rond on the ''H''KTM and Broc Glover on the ''A'' YZ?

Think it was Hienz Kinigadner on the KTM and yes Glover on the YZ. From memory Glover broke his real wheel over those quad jumps.
