DR650 Fuel Tank
« on: May 11, 2012, 08:52:22 am »
My Brother has just waited 4 months for a new replacement fuel tank for his 1994 DR650 only to find out yesterday that the bike shop can't get one.  I think they were trying to get him a Clarke tank from the US however now they're telling him it's NLA.

Anyway the poor bastards DR has been off the road with a badly rusted tank all that time and he just wants to get it going again and go for a ride.

Before I head off to US Ebay, would anyone have a replacement one or have any contacts where we might locate one in Aust?

Cheers
Craig

Thanks for the PM Tony but I called him and it's a 2009 model.  They changed mountings around 1996 from what I can determine so definately still looking for a 1994 model tank.

Cheers

i remember fitting a tt600 desert tank to one of those and a dude was selling bolt on brackets to suit, maybe that could be a way to get him back on the road again even if its the std size tt600 tank

How hard was it to fit Matt?  I mean the rear of the standard tank has 2 mounting bolts, what does the TT600 one have?  What wee the brackets for exactly?

I did a little internet research and it seems tanks for the early ones aren't that easy to find.
Maybe ring around the wreckers if you haven't done so already.
Send Canam370 a pm too. I know it's not strictly his brand, but he might know of something and he's great to deal with.
But don't tell him I said so............  :-\
