Hi all,
Over the weekend, and during the first ride of my freshly rebuilt 78 RM 400 I somehow managed to brake the rear brake plate.
Got back to the pits and saw that the torque arm had pulled a big piece of the casting off, some where along the line the brake actuating arm also got broken and the cable nicely wrapped around the axle. How the hell this happened I dont have a cooking clue - could it have been if the cable got caught on a knobbly which caused the brake to immediately be applied? But surely I would have felt that?
Whatever - its a mess. Now as i see it I can have the plate welded back togther (I see its magnesium) or I could maybe use a plate from a PE? Here in Saffer land either the welding or the PE plate would be option as RM 400's are pretty scare..
So what say you gurus ? What PE plate would fit? If any....
Cheers
