Can I please ask a question, not necessarily of the seller either but anyone who can respond and teach me.

Simply put, why are this bike so expensive.  I look at the bike and just struggle to see where the money is in it.  That's is not a smart arse question, I sincerely wish to learn what it is about this bike (any maybe Bultaco Astros in general) that makes them so expensive.  Is it just that they are really rare?

Not really rare, well maybe over here.   but that what people ask for them and thats what other bully lovers will pay for them.  As always you can find dearer ones and you can find cheaper ones.  it is what it is.

I don`t think the frame is much different to a Mk5-6 MK7. MK8 frame other then the rear loop.

It all comes down to what floats ya boat.  For me they were a purpose built racer that swept the field in the day, so they have their place in history.  They have clean lines and go like stink.  I race a mk6 (which every 'officianardo' tells me is a pursang) and I love it.  Couldn't afford the fancy duck tail model but to me the mk6 is the evolution from pursang to duck tail so it's even more expensive (ha ha ha!).

They dont grow on trees thats for sure. If you really want one (or indeed any bike!) do what it takes to raise the cash and grab it I say! J

They now run a class/race in the states call "astro cup" maybe that helps puts them in the "wanted" list ! their a very fast and cool bike with a lot of history going right back back to the early 70's at the astrodome where blokes like Ronnie Rall,Mike Kidd,Todd Houston,,Jim Odom,Tom Rapp  blitzed allcomers on 1/4 -1/2 mile ? ,another golden time for Bultaco  ;)

DBA,the frame is completely different to the pursang 6,7,8 type.Look at the tubes under the engine. The tank is shorter than a pursang. The tubes under the seat are different and also smaller in diameter.
I think the headstock is angle is steeper, not to mention the bolt on adjustable footpegs.
