Yet another project for Firko
« on: April 30, 2012, 12:19:04 pm »
Pictured is what will eventually become the nucleus of one of my 2013 project bikes. It's what I believe to be a rare Trackmaster motocross frame built to house a Yamaha YZ 125 X/C/D motor. I've done the deal with a guy in Whyalla, South Australia, swapping my Yamaha MX 125 for it. It might seem that my swapping a complete, original and running bike for a bare frame would have me coming out second best on the deal but this frame is a very, very rare piece of kit that'll fit into my aftermarket framed racer philosophy way better than a humble MX125B does.

Trackmaster was famous in flat track circles for their state of the art products back in the sixties and seventies but I've only ever seen one other Trackmaster motocross frame...ironically for an AT1 Yamaha motor. I've never seen a long travel motocross frame from them.

If anyone has any information such as ads, magazine articles or even a photo of this bike could you please pass it on? I'll also be looking for a donor bike, preferably an X model as I'd rather use a metal tank.
The plan is to use as many Yamaha parts as possible so a (semi)complete bike would be a good starter.

Good luck with the new project Firko. Looks like the shadey character you swapped with could do with mowing his lawn.

nice looking frame Firko, the welds are certainly a lot nicer than the standard YZ125C/X gear.
