Looking for info about this bike.
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:19:52 pm »
Hi all,
looking for any info regarding the bike in this Trail & Track article from around the 1992-1994 era, maybe someone on here knows the person who wrote the article and owned the bike.

The name on the article is Darren Fitzhenry, any info would be appreciated.  Peter.

Did you buy the one that was on Ebay a few weeks back?

Media Watch would have a field day with that article. The actual kit is supposed to be pretty good. IIRC about 280cc is as far as you can go with a 250 cylinder in over boring.

This is how the actual bike looks after all those years, needs a good going over and some plastics but all the good gear is still intact. Fires up and sounds very healthy after a couples of good kicks, the 250 kickstart is no where near long enough to kick these over.  Peter.

I have a 92 YZ/WR I would love to put the 360 kit in. For a 20 year old bike it can still hold its own in the bush, suspension and brakes are not quite up to moden standards.
I get it out a few times a year to give it a run, I've suprised more than 1 450 rider with what the old girl can do.

Eric Gorr dose a 295 kit for the YZ, CR, KX, RMs. I recon I'll be going with this option when my moden YZ cylinder needs recoating.

What do you actually get for your money, compared to an 06+ YZ250?

The reality is that the 06+ YZ125 & 250 have aged incredibly well. Their suspension and brakes are excellent and are still the same basic hardware as the current 4Ts, ergos are still modern (arguably better than the current YZF450), and the motors are still damn good compared to the KTMs'.
So what does the kit bike do for you?
Newer styling?

If that's what matters, UFO are even making new-style plastics to make the 02+ YZs look like a current YZF250... (I think its succesful, because the plastic kits make the bikes look like crap - just like a current YZF250...).
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Dont think that they fit the later models.Yamaha changed to bore and stroke from 99 on.

Hi Zorroz,
