The rarer Suzuki's..
« on: March 26, 2008, 05:30:02 pm »
I know there's not really a 'rare' production Suzuki dirt bike (correct me if I'm wrong) but in the last 5 years of searching for parts for my stable I have found the bike that there is least parts and bike is the 84 RM500. Doing daily ebay searches, there are always lots of TM parts, RM parts, lots of RM400 parts (which has been great) but I rarely see RM500D/E parts. Even the 465 bits are scarce compared to the other stuff. Was there just not alot made?

The big bore Suzukis are out there you just have to look a lot harder and use the network i.e. who knows the guy that has Beatle Baileys last RM 500 (E model I think?) in his lounge room???

Great link Doc and how pretty is that replica?
And look at the effort he made to replicate his dream bike.
He was prepared to hand beat a tank just to get the right look!
It would be a crying shame to add some bullshit bucket-sized silencer just to ride it in VMX.
"Whadaya mean it's too loud?! It's a f*ckin' race bike!! That pipe makes it go louder - and look faster!!"

Husky, Phil Lovett recently told me that Beetle is still in Cessnock and does a bit of trail riding with him on a KTM 525. Too bad his career ended early through injuries.

If Beetle Bailey is living in Cessnock let's hope he gets to CD5. It's only a stones throw from Raymond Terrace.

It would be great to see him at a Classic Dirt event . He was a Suzuki man as well as a Husky man earlier on. It was written that he was one of the most naturally talented riders of the time & that he would have gone a lot further if it were not for badly breaking his leg a couple of times . I wonder if anyone has asked him about CD5 ?

I would think that he could be contacted through Chris Watsons Motorcycles in Cessnock or Phil Lovett if the VMX mag guys were keen.
