Yippy got my new Amarok at the dealer doing the vehicle delivery check, notice a scratch near headlight has been touched up with a paint brush. I dont like the look of that. no worries i will mark it on the form and bring the car back and we will have it fixed. OK! take Ute back have loan car for two days go back pick up my ute check repair job&^%$%$@#% one guard has cream patch( car brilliant white) where scratch was on further checking headlight damaged from sanding acrylic lens broken clip at bottom of guard bent mount at top. Just a crap job looks like top mounting screws were taken out and then mudguard just pulled out to enable sanding , damage to bumper the list goes on . Question do you think i should...

A, complain
B, winge a lot
c, relax we will have to get it back and they can have a look at it again (sujested by dealer)

If this much damage was done just looking at it what will happen when they try and fix it.
By the way i just love the Amarok for its size fits me in no worries im 6'7" and 130 kg that is when i can get my Wife out of the bloody thing.

looking to your valued advice you blokes as i am sure you will have some good ideas......... ;D

A good written list of the issues involved and relaxed approach with the dealer is the best approach. If you get uptight it will just ruin the experience of getting the new Amarok.

They will handle the repair and before you know it , it will be a little thing in the past and you will be enjoying your new vehicle 100%.

Enjoy the new vehicle .

It is a new VW ute Bloody good car, no comparison to any of the Jap stuff, it's so much better it doesn't compare.....takes a tonne in the back and gets 5.5 lts per 100klm , no jap diesel even comes close.

Congrats on buying a pretty bloody good piece of kit.

Persevere with the dealer (patiently as has already been suggested) until said vehicle is fixed to your satisfaction and then enjoy.  ;D ;D

I ask for a written agreement before you take delivery
I'm tempted to buy one these but the test drive I had I found the brakes were shit ( How a 60K ute has drum brakes still these days? ) A little under powered but great mileage so trade off and I stalled it twice. The rest was by far ahead of the Jap stuff , great cab with real room and nice touches plus a real payload size tray. If they end up coming out in Auto and 3 litre and fit rear disk brakes I would buy one.

I've heard there is a bigger diesel and a V6 petrol engine coming our way, eventually.
Sounds like they did an in house repair job the first time, I wouldn't create a huge stink, yet, but I'd def let em know I wasn't impressed.
As with Slakewell I'm waiting for them to put a bigger donk in it.
Thats in our nature isn't it, the never ending search for more horses.

So you can drive it from Sydney to Melbourne and use only 49.5 liters of fuel ::)

Yep be nice to the dealer ;) and sort of suggest  (after totally acceptable tidy up of your NEW CAR!!) that maybe a discount on your second book service * would be a pleasant surprise :)
* Quote from local dealer for second log book service .... $1040..... >:( :o
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Document the problems and diarise your conversation, take photo's and be very clear about your expectations. Be firm and polite and don't accept a bad colour match of the paint "That's the colour from the formula and off the mixing machine" excuse. The colour is never exactly right off the machine and any good painter will colour match to the vehice to make it spot on. Unfortunately the trade seems to produce less competant tadesman today.

If you are not happy with progress or results ask to speak to the dealer principle, layout your documented requests, your diarised phone conversations and photo's. Just let him know if it is not resolved to your satisfaction, your next stop is VW Australia. A few freebies for you or the car would also buy some goodwill and recommendations from a happy customer. Best of luck.... "I hate being screwed too"

You're right KT, a bit of palm greasing by them would def help soothe your pain & frustration, you only oil the sqeeking wheel. ;D
Communicate via email, that way you can cattledog everything.
I'm sure if Mine Fuhrer found out they would change their attitude to customer service in OZ.
But don't mention the war, I did once but I think I got away with it. ;)

Yes I also may have mentioned a war.......Thanks for all the good ideas.
and yes my anorak dose keep me warm.
Great car i was a bit suspicious of the 2 liter engine but it tows my two horse float better than the old holden ute loaded as well. the breaks are amazing disks do not have to be better the drums are fine it stops on a dime, and i think seem ok even in water it may have something to do with the decent control and in my mind the hand brake will allways be better with a drum. like i say when i get to drive it i love the thing.
I have past the complaint along to VW Aust and things should go fine from here on in as long as i dont have to speak to the jolly people again cause i dont think i will get away with mentioning the war again. and anyway they started it the invaded poland!
