UFO make plastics for them, i got a set for my '87 250 and '89 250. Try your local bike shop, '88 is the dark red.

Had no dramas getting genuine for my '87 - can't imagine '88 being a problem.
Dearer that UFO, but not by a whole lot.

The 500 radiator shrouds are bigger than the 250 ones. They say these are '90 model red, is that different again to '88/'89?

Ok so they are no good, from what I have read the shrouds should be fighting red,the same shape as 86 and 87 but different colour. Not having much luck ???

Yeah that sounds right. I went through the UFO catalog and picked out the right plastics for my 250's but i think the 500 shrouds might be a problem.

Yes the 90 red looks allot more orange. Looks like the shrouds changed colour in 88, they are the same as 86 and 87 but different colour, 89 is totally different shape.I can get all the other plastics in the right colour but not the shrouds.

front plate shoud be the same, if you order one from Honda it will now come in white only as the red is superceeded.

as for side plates not sure, but i would ASSUME muffler side will be different and possibly the other side MAY fit. ( as that is the case with my 1985 CR500 if that is anything to go by)

getting original shrouds and sidecovers for the 500's is getting hard now. i have been chasing one side NOS radiator for 4 years now, every time one comes up i miss out, they get snapped up real quick.

The '88 500 plastics are the same as the '87 250 except for the radiator shrouds and the colour. You're going to struggle getting the '88 500 shrouds as they're a 1 year only item.
