Townley to ride for Chad Reed's Team Two Two
« on: March 18, 2012, 04:10:43 PM »
It looks like Ben Townley will head to the US to fill in for injured Chad Reed in the AMA Outdoor Nationals this season. Townley was to ride for the Carlton Dry Honda team in the Aussie Nats but has been offered the US ride by Reed.

Watched Townley today in Taupo and he is back where he was 5 yrs ago ( read fast  ;D ) if he can stay healthy and injury free the guy is a real threat for the out doors . Today he was winning 20 min + 2 lap races by 30 sec from Josh Coppins and Cody Cooper , He was doubing and tripling where others were singling and doubling yet looked smooth as .Your own Cody Mackie was riding real well in MX 2  :) I really hope BT can keep it all together in the US as when the blokes on form hes unbeatable  ;)

Bill he will have to be good to compete with Villapoto, RV just notched another win. Metty did well to keep him at bay for a couple of laps...
Stewart not racing so he does not even have to win at the moment but still finding a way. The guy is a freak..

Is it way too small? A bit of work with the heat gun or hot water could soften it enough to fit if it's close. Maybe some rubber friendly grease as well.

I agree Bill when he's fit and healthy he's as quick as any one. I saw him at the 2010 des Nations in the US and he won a moto but unfortunately crashed out of the other and it was all downhill after that.
If he can stay unhurt he'll be a real threat.

Good luck Ben. Keep it on two wheels and stay healthy... and then kick some Kiwi butt!!!

Ben will go well, lets hope his bad luck quota is full.

Sorry for the thread highjack-but how about 43 year old Darryl King winning the 2012 NZ MX2 class (250 fourstroke etc) on his two stroke YZ250!!

To me DK is a legend, how good is it to see a two stroke beating those "farm bikes on steroids"-(fourstrokes).

DK is a legend... it's unbelievable the speed he still has. There was talk a while back of him and Shayne teaming up with Cooksley for a crack at the Farleigh Castle des Nations.. wonder if that's still on the cards?

I dont like your chances  ;D they dont have a high opinion of old bikes  ;)

They ride modern bikes faster than most of the young blokes here  ::) therefore the older bikes really show there inadequeces  :)

Honestly if the format requires an over 40yrs team i dont thik the Kiwis could currently put together a team to challenge the Poms Belgians or Yanks  :) maybe in a few years when Josh turns 40 , but you still gotta find 3 other fast over 40s who will race old bikes .

Riding dirt bikes is still DKs bread and butter , why would he risk injury on a bike that dont stop and doesn,t handle  ;) Shane rode a couple of years ago and didn't eally fire . Josh told me he absolutley loves the event and the track and was gutted he couldn't race last year ( he was still there pit crewing for his father in law and brother in law )but i think hes to young for the des nations team .

A bit off topic but i wish i could motivate enough Kiwis to give your Nats a go  ;D we have some real fast 50+ and 60+ riders ATM  ;) Not quick enough to podium at Farliegh but fast all the same  :)
