Western Australia Questions!
« on: February 27, 2012, 11:01:50 am »
Hi Gents,

I may be heading over to WA for a few months with work, and I've got a few questions for our WA members!  At this stage I'd say it's 90% certain I'll be heading over mid-March.

  • I'll probably be based in Fremantle - what's public transport like between Fremantle and Perth?  How long does it take?  (I do Taekwondo 4 or 5 nights a weeks here in Brisbane, and I can guest at a Perth Taekwondo club, but still need to get there)
  • What's the weather like March to May?  If rain's not normally a problem, am I better off buying a cheap registered bike and re-selling it when I leave
  • What local VMX/Vinduro events are coming up that I could go check out?

I'm sure I'll have many more questions, but these are a start!

Thanks,

Tony

train or Bus to perth

March to May generally warmish (24-28) , with a couple of rain days into may, rain never a problem here.  But then this statement might come back to bite me!!!!

Tony, the train runs from Freo into Perth , don't know how long it takes but must be about 30mins.... cost is unknown to me either...haven't taken public trans for some time now... Weather is "just" starting to cool off here now...looking at 30 degrees or so as max after some stinkers ... as always in Feb... Rain , I don't think will be a problem for communting..... because of the lack of rain, our season for VMX does not kick off til late compared to other states..so the first club event is 8 April at Narrogin followed by May 6 at Collie...they have lots of water and a great venue ( not to mention great people)... go to the VMX Club website to check out calendar... www.vmxwa.com .... no Vinduro on this side of the island (yet)

Tony,
My family and I have just relocated from Brisbane to Derby in north WA. Unfortunately not much vmx up here.
If your looking at bringing a bike across try Grace removals for a quote. I got three bikes, door to door for $1200, which was about $ 200 cheaper than just 1 bike with your specialist bike movers. Although I wouldn't recommend it for a high dollar resto as your bike is just stuffed into a container with 50 other people's possessions.
