AWESOME 414...they dont make bikes like that anymore....how cool is that RD400 in purple?.....most of the road bikes they make nowadays are as boring as batshit....multi clylinder 2 stroke roadbikes are cool. Looked like a pretty cool bike show......and thank god you didnt put any of those American V-twin Briggs and Stratton piles of poo up.

They were (bright) yellow one year and (bright bright) orange the other.

I thought it was yellow for the 300 and orange for the 250?

I think they look bloody 'grouse' anyway. I knew that word I picked up at HBBB would come in handy ;D

The colour break up may have been as you say yellow = 350 & orange = 250

There was only two years of them I think. Feetupfun will be able to confirm I am sure. Don't think any came to Australia other than personal imports

Yeah your right mate  :) anyway i,ve rebuilt it once so I can do it again  :D I was going to take it out today on my old practice track but I got called out on a job  grrrrrrr just one little question is there a easy way of starting it??? When I started it yesterday I did it like I use to do on my cr500 4 or 5 light strokes to get the petrol in the crank find tdc and a sharp kick. Even doing this it took about 5 mins to start  ??? any ideas??

With my 414 when cold. Fuel on, choke on (Bing), 7 (yes seven) priming strokes to charge the engine, push engine just past compression, return kick starter to top of stroke and kick like you hate it ;).

The kick start should be rotated forward on the spline so that the the end is almost level to the botton fins on the cylinder. It looks wrong but gives that big extra travel.

:D :D kick it like you hate it  :D :D :D I like that one  :D :D I will give that a go tomorrow when I get back from work  :) :) I've got my kick start as far forward as poss  ;)

Just a quick update for you all........ I've started to ride my cappra  ;D ;D The temptation got the better of me!!!!!
I ran it in and took it to a local grasstrack for a little play  ;D got to say it kept with the new mx bikes and held her own on the starts ( would be even better if I could keep the front end down off the line!!)
The bike rode ok but there is room for a lot of improvement on my carb set up.

So my next question it this.... Carb set up?? what size main and idle jets should I be using for grasstracks? and also the needle possision and air screw. The last thing I want is to be full throttle down the straight and chop it off in the top corner for it to seize up with lack of air and fuel (been down this road toooooo many times at the weston beach race) Or is there a different carb that I could try??
