Yeah, I'm with everyone else.....you've done a really nice job so far Simon ;).

Holy shit.....I've recently purchased three sets of plastic from DC, thankfully with no customs taxes. We can whinge and whine about our taxes here but our import taxes aren't that bad. £48 is highway robbery ::).

You're doing a nice job of it Simon.
I see you have a ve front guard on it. VF front guards are readily available.
That looks like an oem seat cover as well with the 'M' embossed into it instead of printed which I've never been able to find. Well done. :)

This is my 414.

Thanks mate  ;D I ordered vf plastics from DC and thats what turned up  ??? So have they sent me the wrong front mudguard?? The seat coved is original mate but the lower edge was repaired to keep as much of the original bike as poss  ;)

Jared Bates (SW Montesa) actually has NOS front and rear guards for the VF series. The DC plastics are OK (I use them on my race bikes) but the 'M' on th rear guard is very poor compared to the original and as you found out the DC front is actually a VE series and they don't seem to have the correct curve :(.

You are doing a great job on the bike very impressive ;).

Ross is just showing off with that air shot of him on the VF its been photoshopped to hell if you look closely you can just pick up that the bike is actually on a stand (dark bit in the tree) in his back yard :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D  ;D :P :P JOKING  OK  Ross Joking (or am I)

I have also found out the early 80's KTM's use the exact same front guard as the VF.

Apart from the piston (Mahle), everything else in the motor is Montesa. Mahle pistons from other big bores won't fit without a lot of feckin' about.

No wonder their is not many genuine spare's then for these bike if they were made for their own bikes. I,m just waiting for a chain block rubber and swinging arm ruber to turn up, then I can get the chain on it and fire her up  ;D only pulling your leg over the pic mate  ;) sorry for any offence  :)

Yes mate, see here.  339 or so, from experience this site is pretty accurate.
