Yeehah
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:42:45 am »
Just been blasting the test track on the 390AMX which just arrived. Good fun, and should be real nice with a bit of personal tweaking. No gears in pre '78 for me. Now to fire up the SWM370 enduro.
Cheers,
K

Firstly there will be some crashes getting used to fact that you actually speed up when you chop the thottle on the auto! An added bonus which I was unaware of is that the front plate is signed by Malcolm Smith, and one side plate by Gunnar Lindstrom. They are going straight to the pool room.
The SWM is a 100% original, less than 10 hour use bike, complete with the original sales invoice dated 06/03/1980, with a price of $2,050.00. You have to see it to believe it, could almost pass for new. It sounds, runs & rides like a new bike. I thought the gearing would be shit for tight stuff (15/44) but it pulls strong & smooth and is very easy to ride. Very, very happy. I'll swap the steel bars for alloy, maybe put an easy pull clutch lever on (although it's not the worst I've felt) and get it ready for Castella.
Cheers,
K

It was actually about a month longer than expected Paul, they were due the week before Christmas, but got delayed a little bit. They arrived at my door last night. The bike was advertised on Marks swap meet Hoony, made the call, struck a deal, paid and here it is. There's some photo's in the SWM thread from a couple of months ago, should be easy to find if you scroll through them.
Cheers,
K

Not sure John, looks very Rotax too me, maybe someone with more knowledge of SWM's can tell us. There are 2 Villa 350's not 5 minutes drive from me Hoony. Been trying to get one for years and will keep asking, but I won't hold my breath though.
Cheers,
K

The SWM uses the same Rotax engine as the Canams, ATK, Puchs and many other Euros of the period. They were case reed motors and came in 347/370/400cc variants.
WANTED. Canams;all models,complete or parts.SWM stuff too!
