Nice Works Suzuki

A guy I know in the US just brought this RN500 1983 model out of Europe.
I reckon it is the coolest Suzuki Pre 85 works bike outside of the later 1983 watercooled version.
What do you think?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the alloy bracket thingy that is attached to the frame just in front of the foot brake pedal. Is it there to feather the rear brake with the heel of the riders boot  ???

Good question ! My guess would be : to prevent the brake being accidentally applied by a flailing muddy boot looking for support, AND to prevent the brake pedal being trashed in a fast lowside crash.
As Barry Sheene was wont to say, "Answers on a postcard"...

It's a guard to prevent rocks and ruts bending the brake pedal. The '84 RM's come std with one.

Note how the cases still have the castings for conventional clutch cable set up LHS and RHS halfs.

The cases have quite a smooth finish to them (not sand cast), so they could be std cases and thats why there is the extra clutch actuator  in there?....I think there are "works" bikes getting around now that are made up of leftover parts....theres been alot of parts found/sold in the last few years......could be putting my foot in my mouth again....oh well. ;D

Before you guys go pulling this bike to pieces.. i read the story on the bike on the owners facebook page and it explains the reason behind the left or right clutch actuation.
It is a REAL factory Suzuki from the Clive Bussey collection in England and was ridden by Jem Whatley.
