Removing build-up from exhaust port
« on: December 30, 2011, 08:24:22 pm »
Is there a way to remove this crap without resorting to drilling it off.
It is rock hard and there is plenty of it.

I guess you may be talking about the coke build up, carbon or what ever you want to call it. the best thing i use is a bearing scraper and plenty of elbow grease... a small wire brush but never anything that will damage the port and unless you have pulled the barrel off i wouldn'i use solvent of any kind. if you have the barrel of you could soak it till the carbon softens we used to use a product we called soup but it took paint and every other thing off came out clean as wash of with water but i bet you cant get it now. so Elbow Grease for sure....lol ;)
When in DOUBT GAS IT!!!

I don't clean it off, carbon is a very good heat insulator, get it as smooth as you can...... race on!
