2012 Heaven Calendar (draft)
« on: December 29, 2011, 06:49:56 pm »
These dates are tentative  ;) but at this stage all is looking good

There are a few exciting changes to the program and format - all will be revealed in the upcoming news letter

Rd1 Glenbawn 10/11 March
Rd2 Clarence 21/22 April - This one is still to be confirmed with the facility so may change
Rd3 Canberra 12/13 May - In discussions about Kumagutsa but depends on track status (licence and facilities)
Rd4 Lakes 16/17 June
Rd5 Bulahdelah 14/15 July - CRC meeting  :D
Rd6 Lakes 25/26 Aug - EVO Challenge meeting   8)
Rd7 Canowindra 29/30 Sept - Canowindra Cup meeting ;D
Rd8 Bulahdelah 10/11 Nov + Presentation - changed from 3/4 Nov
A news letter will be going out early January with all the club news and the full details of the years program

Please remember this is a draft calendar and there could possibly be some changes but mostly looking good at this stage.

Thought it better to get info out there instead of waiting until mid-late January for everything to completely finalised. A bit of dammed if you do dammed if you don't ;D

Hi Greg,
When is HEAVEN going to have a EVO Challenge at Lake Glenbawn as it is a really good track for both Pre-78 and Pre -85 bikes and we have not had and EVO Challenge there for a long time. We can also have dinner and presentation at the canteen. The lady that does the catering is really good.
Cheers

Glenbawn is a great EVO track as is Lakes. The members at the AGM indicated that Lakes was the preferred track for the EVO Challenge

Excuse the ignorance of an outsider but I have a few questions about the event at the Lakes on June 16-17

First up where is the Lakes?
What classes are you running? I'll have pre 75 and pre 78 bikes on board

I'm sure HEAVEN events are in NSW :-[ and a two day event the weekend after the Nats is the best I could hope for. I can race this one and still be home for the end of the month. Unless of course there's another race the following weekend then I'll be pushing it.

Now I just need to find a meeting or two leading up to the Nats and I'm set!

Thanks

Brent

Have a look at  http://ozvmx.com/community/index.php?topic=19470.0
old topic gives some pics of the track.
The June 16-17 round is probly a normal club rd with open practise all day Saturday, with racing Sunday.
The track suits pre75 pretty well, but better for the faster suspender bikes.

Thanks guys, this is sounding better all the time!

I'll sort things closer to the date but do I need a day membership of the local club?

Where so I source entry forms, info etc. Where is the track? I had a nosey on Google earth but couldn't find anything.

Thaks all

Hi Brent,

The address is 267 Cessnock Rd Ryhope NSW 2283. It's a great track, quite hilly and fairly technical in places. Just keep watching this post and I am sure we will be informed when the entry forms are available. You can also keep an eye on http://www.heaven-vmx.com/
Fairly sure the day membership is OK, you'll need to confirm with MontyNut.

Cheers,

KJ

The lakes track is not far from newcastle where you were not long back (working holiday) ;D
May camp at my ranch if you want plenty of 500 thumpers to keep yours happy 8)

Thanks Mick, It will be good to catch up again. The Cave road kids together again!

Depending on what happens, could I leave two bikes at your place for a week or so. I may have to go "shopping/sightseeing" with wifey for a few days as penance for racing.................................
It would be great to be able to leave the bikes somewhere safe while I'm serving time..................

General Business Point 3
( Promoting the EVO Challenge- after discussion ,members really liked the idea of having the EVO Challenge at Lake Glenbawn as it is an excellent MX track etc etc etc )

Fernando,
I am surprised that you are airing our club's business on this forum particularly given your firm opposition to this type of thing in the past. As I said above I have no problem with Glenbawn and only live 45min away from there. Lakes complex is also an outstanding complex which is only an hour from my place. Both complexes are firm favourites with Heaven members. I sent you a PM outlining the possible complications with Glenbawn after 1 July 2012 and I am not going to discuss those issues on this forum as it is that Club’s business.

The decision to use Lakes for the EVO Challenge was unanimous by the Committee. As for as quoting from the Nov ’11 General Meeting minutes maybe it would be best to quote the entire section while you chose to select only a few words.

“Promoting the Evo Challenge- After discussion members really liked the idea of having the EVO Challenge at Lake Glenbawn as it is an excellent MX track. The transfer of EVO Challenge to ACT showed a drop in entrants (approx 30 less) from the carry over from the Lake Glenbawn meeting. Greg Scriven stated perhaps decline in interest is resultant due to the delay from one meeting to the other. It lost some of its appeal and that we should not use 2011 as an indication of its popularity. ******* stated the original Evo Challenge was designed by ********* to be run on the Bulahdelah Super track. Members prefer to have the Challenge on a more EVO style track such as Glenbawn or Lakes.”

After discussions with the Upper Hunter Club and given the likely complications with Glenbawn for 2012 the Committee needed to make decision for the EVO Challenge. Therefore it seemed completely reasonable for the Committee to decide on Lakes.

Anyway Fernando I really hope you get to a heap more meetings this year as everyone really misses your character and sense of humour around the meetings and also your vast assortment of those Swedish sewing machines ;D. We all really miss you in the over fifty events as well as you are harder to pass than a house brick ;) :) and a demon starter ;D.

Hope to see you at Glembawn in March ready with your Pre78 Open Husky as you will be pleased to know there was a big field at Bulahdelah in Nov and some great races 8).

I will not be debating club issues on OZVMX again just posting info.

Hey Brent, If you are at Mick's place you will instantly score brownie points as he lives only 10mins from the Hunter Valley vineyard tourist nirvana ;D. The better half will just love it art galleries, chocolate factories, wine tasting etc etc ::)

Thanks Monty, the reasons to attend just keep mounting up.

Although all I really need to tell her is that Sydney and shopping is just down the road.
