V-Force reeds to suit early Yamaha.
« on: December 22, 2011, 02:35:27 pm »
I think we've discussed this before but I can't find any reference to it.
I'm wondering if there's a V-Force reed cage that'll fit the RT2MX,MX250/360 reed housing? I've got a couple of sets of Boyeseen reeds to suit but I'd like to try something a bit more adventurous on this RT2MX engine build. It's getting a serious bit of porting so I want to make sure the fuel delivery can match up.

I have V-force reed cage on my 2010 YZ250, seems to have lost top end without much gain down low.  My brother-in-law just put a YZ125 6 petal reed block in his DT2MX to replace the 4 petal, don't know how it goes yet, he should have it ready for the Bonanza.  I think he should put Boyeson's in it and cut out the ribs to increase the flow area.

Yes....You find the rule telling me I can't use them. They can't be seen from outside and even if they were illegal how would it be enforced?

That's what I've got in my flat tracker RT2...I seem to remember a late KX125 Boyseen setup fitting too.

What model/year YZ125 reed block are you using guys?
Does it need any widening of the DT2M/RT2M inlet to fit?

Actually John, I just use the reeds themselves in the standard block. I'm not envisioning any earth shattering performance gains....it's merely replacing steel double reeds with fibre triple.

Do you have the bolt spacing? If it can't be matched I can make a 'poor mans' VForce form an old cage.
