I have black rims on my 77 KTM and had a few KTM faithful grumbling about them but as I built it from so many parts and it is so far from stock (but doesn't look it) I didn't think it would matter. I will build another set of wheels for it one day in stock colors.
Current bikes. KTM MC 250 77 Husky CR 360 77, Husky 82 420 Auto Bitsa XR 200 project. Dont need a pickle just need to ride my motorcickle

The black and purple rims weren't my only taste lapse. Let's not forget my fluro pink and Fluro orange Maico's circa 1992. I actually fitted the pink guards to the 440 Maico purely to piss scrutineer Peter Drakeford off at the '92 Ravenswood Nats. He and I had been having some differences in philosophy at the time so I thought the flash colour would spark him up. The idea was to only have them on for one meeting but great plans often go astray and they stayed on for 3 or 4 years until they faded. Apologies for the thread hijack Luke

Some bikes with black rims seem to look better than others. I don't mind them on the KX pictured or the later 78 CR250.

I guess with pre 90 bikes coming now we are going to have to be a bit more open minded to splash graphics and lairier looking bikes.

Hate them! HATE THEM! HATE THEM!

In MY opinion nothing looks worse than black rims on a vintage bike or even a modern bike, it looks to me like the spokes are somehow attached to the tyre and theres no rim, it just looks WRONG
Same applies to matt black wheels on cars and matt black helmets and the dickheads who think they're "stealthy" the only thing under the radar is their lack of good taste.
Ban BLACK rims NOW

DG did back in the day. I am waiting for the first VMXer to turn up with coloured tyres...... but funny the things we put shit on like boot savers back in the day seem to turn up as the future must have accessory sooner or later

If everyone just had the exact same coloured bikes it would be pretty boring rims aren't a forever thing though you can always buy some silver ones again if you can't live with another colour.

Cyclegod plain helmets are good they are hard to get nowadays you have to have some design scribbled all over I just have a plain gloss black road helmet.

I couldn't get just a plain helmet for the dirt when I was looking all of them just have scribbles which looks crap when you are riding an old bike.
