8 speeds?
« on: March 10, 2008, 04:50:24 pm »
Doc, Firko any Suzi buff ;) Just been given %90 of a TC100 (missing back wheel , speedo headlight, seat cover and  foam. )Is TC100 24712 any idea as to year. Are they as sweet as the little TS100 of the same era? cause I smell a little fun bike resto here.... ;)

TS100 and TC100 share almost all the same parts. The only OBVIOUS difference is the Hi-Lo ratio lever on the mag cover, my uncle bought one for $100 got it going with a new battery and commuted on it for nearly 3 years before something broke. They are a lot of fun, well done on another good find.

TS/TS..both are good fun bikes and well worth keeping if you like that sort of thing..I know I do  ;D bidding on some TS90 bits at present as I really would like one of those as well and they'll make good spares if I can win them..oh and eventually get a ts90 of course..call me a little optimistic maybe :P the rear wheel from a multitude of TS100's/125's and 185's up to '90's model TS-ER are all the same wheel basically so that should be a non issue Tim :)

8 gears is that all.Just reading about Mitsuo Ito and some of his 60's TT rides in particular the 14 speed 50.Which required a special 'toe tap' to go down 12 gears before a corner.Proving yet again the 60's was great era for technical developement, the 3 cylinder 50 made 19hp at 20,000 rpm.No dimensions were quoted for bore and stroke but 50 div 3 is 16.8cc so could only imagine the size of the piston/ring/gudgeon and importantly the circlip. It needed 14 speed with the 350rpm powerband. Now that would have taken some considerable skill to keep in that zone. ;D Mitsuo went on to oversee MX/Road race GP efforts aswell as US racing a true Suzuki legend.

Made up mind is going to be a modified traily/mx. Does anyone out there have a copy of the paper work on theTS90/100 MX kit as sold by Suzuki. I do remember seeing it in a TS100 shop manual and even a Suzuki parts book. Hoping someone has the
paperwork ...or even maybe some of the items for help.  Wrecks of 73/74 TS 100 Honchos or TC 100 Blazers or parts there of would be well looked after too. Cheers Tim
