I've just come back from a working bee there and my first glimpse of the 'all new' Karmagutsa track.  Its ace!  Its got it all - a couple of good long straights, several big sweeping corners, lots of bermed corners, lots of altitude changes, several sweet wfo rolling jumps and stutter sections.  Lots of great high-up vantage points - with shady trees even.  You guys are in for a real treat in 2012.

Lots of work still to do though - marshall points to be built, tyre stacks around trees, top dressing the surface of jumps etc etc.  So if you want a fully fledged, licenced, vintage friendly motocross track in Canberra, join in the working bees!

I had the pleasure of a couple of laps of this a few months ago on a cr250 74 model. Bit scarey though, the cr seemed to have he original untouched suspension. Anyway lots of fun to be had. The track is a credit to those who put in the work to resurect it.

Hi Gents

Where is the track?
Long starights and fast sweepers has me interested!
Are all welcome?

Thanks
Wayne

The track is in canberra. I understand that the Kumagutsa is the old MX track from Back in steven galls day. Its pretty technical. XC83, The dirt track at the same venue is certainly fast, long straights and sweepers. Very nice to ride on...
Cheers Brett

This is a new layout that uses some of the original track but lots of new sections.  I wouldn't call it particularly technical myself - just a full sized fast flowing natural terrain mx track.  I was really blown away walking round it - some wide flowing bermed corners, one or two great fourth gear uphill - and downhill - sections, and a couple of long straights.  Could not believe how good it looked.

Can't wait till its licenced and we race it.  Just wish I had a good fast vmx bike to make use of it on (instead of a good but slow TT250....).

Check this link out (thanks Woody) the refurbed Karmagutsa track its almost 100% correct to the video , the track is longer (150 to 200m ) and a couple of jumps less

Yeah maybe it's not that technical. When i went around it, there was one reasonably steep drop off which i was not expecting. Thank god the old cr was in the powerband so i could get the front wheel in th air...

Karma Gutsa is a great track. I used to race it in the late 70s and early 80s and it was a favorite back then. The drive from Sydney up through Picton and through Goulburn before the Freeway cut them out, a stop off at the Paragon in Goulburn on the way through and a weekend of Classic Fast, Natural, Motocross. Well done to the Canberra guys, this track will only enrich the VMX experience in NSW.

If the track is brought back to it's former glory, this track would be the ideal venue for the NSW State Titles, some Heaven events or next years Mr VMX.

Cool Ekka, A couple of extra jumps on the hills and the zigzag section just before the creek and main straight has been cut out. Otherwise, very close to how it was back in the day. Looking forward to riding it.
