A stand out meeting - last one for the year, running on the perfectly prepared old style pre 75 friendly track. Those directly involved in the securing and preparation of the Heaven Home Base (HHB) should be proud of themselves and thanked by all the members.
Racing was spread out over Saturday arvo and Sunday morning. Great format for this event. No Rain at all at this meeting. I was in a complete ball of sweat just flagging on Saturday. Around 35 degrees and very blue skies. Clouds and a breeze turned up each arvo. Maybe the heat or maybe just the end of a long year but we saw several bike come to a complete stop due to seizures - KX water cooled, Maico 490 Mega 2 amongst 4 on Saturday. RM 125C with a smashed bottom end stopped another fast rider who was promptly re-mounted on a super quick KTM 125 supplied by KTM Guru Dennis Myers.
The racing did not taper off due to heat or last round blues. In fact it was some of the closest and fiercely fought all year long. The cream floated to the surface. Jody Perry kept up his winning runs and ended up the Club Champ and the No. 1 number plate holder for 2012.
The final Evo all in race saw many riders effected by the red mist. No holds barred. Ended in some spectacular offs for Bob Beverly, Peter (red belly) Crampton and Jarrod Beverly. Skin off and large bruises in the main. No major work done by our medic thank goodness.
Continual track grooming, Water trucks x 2 have generated a track that everyone seemed really happy with. Old and young blokes and bikes alike.
The track was so user friendly even Sean (Plates) Hardman decided to get out of the bike that bucked him off at a recent wet event. Screws and plate in the collar bone not an issue. No even much difference in the lap times for Seano either.
Get your Pre 75 and Pre 78 bikes ready for next year. Grass track has been groomed earlier in the year and with a bit more mothering from Pete Crampton and his local mates is will be a cracka.
All the best Pete # 100
