Adjusting clutch-YZ465h
« on: November 09, 2011, 06:22:59 pm »
Got a new clutch cable for 465 after having large amounts of freeplay at the lever after each race at the first MrVMX round, thought it was cable stretch but I can't adjust it either. It goes solid against the rubber boot at the bottom.
Looking at the parts diagram on cmsnl.com shows a threaded adjuster in the centre of the pressure plate which I suspect has loosened off.
Where should the lever end up when I tighten the adjuster?

if your cases are not damaged from a thrown chain, there is a notch or a line that the arm will line up with when adjusted.

head is right there is a pointer on lever and a dot or mark on case
adjust screw in centre of pressure plate so they line up with no free travel
then fit cable and adjust to normal amount of travel ;)
follow me to first turn

Cases aren't damaged but I didn't notice any marks, will have another look after work.
Turned out someone had fitted another flat washer outside of the spring washer that pulled on the pressure plate, took that out & wound the adjuster in until the lever was roughly inline with the cases before doing up the locknut
Seems to feel right
