Perforated decals for an RM465 (1982)
« on: November 01, 2011, 11:07:13 am »
Hi All

Restored the tank over 10 hours sanding!
3 coats of Blue lightening inside to seal it and nice new decals from reproduction decals and within hours of putting fuel in they all bubbled up!

So whilst not the best looking I am giving up and want to throw a set of perforated decals

Checked Motodura website and no 1982 sets

Can anyone recommend a supplier?

Cheers

Thanks Hardo

Vintage Suzuki have been good to deal with but there decals are similar to the previous ones and would just fall off again

I want to try and get the perforated ones to see if they can hold on a bit longer!

Thanks Cyclegod, I actually have one!

When I first put it on it looked a bit cheap and nasty but I suppose it is better than the festering mess the current decals look like!

I would still like to source the perforated ones if anyone has a good source, I saw some on ebay from a nondescript seller but I thought I might try the brains trust for a reputable seller first

Cheers

Placed a good solid perforated set on the rm125n for the Classic Nationals Crystal Brook SA,though with a six foot + long legged 17 year old, riding two class's they didnt lasted the three days racing.  :(
Thats the extreme end of the tank abuse  :P

check out MXM in the UK or I think Speed and Sport do those Too Tough perforated decals out of the US.  I put a set on an 83 YZ 125 and they went real well.

I have used a couple of sets of the MXM perforated decals. One set are perfect and have never bubbled- on an RM T. The other set after the same preparation bubbled within days. Not sure why. Maybe the sticky stuff was older or the tank was thinner plastic or a different 'glue' was used. Anyway the solution for me was super glue. Applied a smear to the tank and laid the stickers on and they haven't moved in 5 yrs or so.

I've used MXM perforated decals from the UK on several of my bikes with no problems. They're good quality and last a long time.

just get a tank cover from vintage suzuki and save yourself the pain. I went through it with my 465 and gave up. From 10 feet away the tank looks just as good

MXM in the UK make great perforated decals for the 1983 RM. I got some from them for my 465 Z. Google MXM to find them.

From memory they do not list all their decals on their website. So, Email them what you are after if you cannot see it.

Some people use clear roofing silicone to stick the decals on too. You apply it with a spatula.
