UK Shipping
« on: October 19, 2011, 05:10:09 pm »
Hopefully my Metisse is on the water now  :) here is a picture of the crate i had made and the shipping cost .

the bike stripped is 1 metre long to give an idea of the size of the crate .

The crate cost UK pounds 170.00 , i went this route as you cant just use any wooden crate to ship into NZ . I delivered the bike stripped and some personal effects i had left in the UK to the crate makers and they built the box and packed it for me ( photo shows box partly packed ) cost 170 quid or $NZ330.00

Shipping ex crate factory Southhampton UK to my yard in Taupo NZ was 375.00 Uk pounds or $NZ 740.00 .

So all up approx $NZ1100.00 for a fair sized crate .

Maybe this may help anybody else wanting to ship a bike from the UK . I shipped a crate half the size from Brisbane to Taupo a couple of years ago and that cost approx $NZ900.00 witch i was very happy with too.

What was the name of the shipping company you used?  I've got some parts to come from the UK later this year.

Look at all the empty space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know someone who had a WLC Harley for sale and some one in NZ wanted to buy it.  They asked about the cost of shipping to NZ.

£600 was the quote which seemed like good value for to me for such a big / heavy bike.

The WLC didnt make it to NZ and ended up in my garage on what will probably be a temporary basis.  So, if anyone from NZ knows who that person is let me know as I have too much stuff and dont want to fall in love with this bike and end up keeping it along with all the other stuff I dont have space for!

Large drink for the person who can find that buyer....

I have got some crappy wheel covers that need to get to Oz that could have been slung in that box (sorry, carefully placed!)

I bet you drove past the end of my Dad's road on the A36 if you drove from Farleigh to Southampton.  he is only 10 mins from Soton and is there most days with work....!

Hey Bill only MAF and the tax man left to deal with .... I think when I shipped my Cheney Honda it cost about the same door to wharf. I have about 10 cubic meters coming from Japan, that will be exciting.
