I looked at a 2004 KTM exc today, the guy selling it isn't providing a safety certificate with the bike. Is this legal? There is a few minor things wrong with the bike like tail light and a front blinker not working. Also the rear tyre might not pass. He wants $4000 and he'll chuck in a steering dampiner. If I'm paying $4 grand for it I want it to be roadworthy.

It's legal if he sells it unregistered. Well in QLD anyway. I've bought a lot of registered bikes without RWC's just to get a better deal.

The steering dampener is worth $5-800 new and at least $350- $450 used.

The seller only needs to provide a safety cert, if they are selling it registered.

...but is he selling it reg'd ?. The seller can easily pull the plates off upon sale which would render it
unreg'd, therefore no need for safety cert.
Do a revs search also to check no money owing on it :o

Or you could mine Maxi, I will even supply RWC and a new rear tyre 2010 model with 40 hr's 1800klms $8000. and lm in Brisbane to.
