Its Alive....!
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:09:00 pm »
Woooo  ;D ;D ;D

99% done and its alive! I just dont have a chain to make it move. LOL
Dad and I couldnt be happier how it has turned out, our first major project is all but finished.. and the noise it makes is fantastic!

Only thing left is to finish polishing the front guard (ran out of compound)
get a chain - fit and adjust axle.
swap shock spring for the one thats at powdercoaters.
And the exhaust is from a C model so when i find a good X exhaust ill swap em over.

I kicked it 4 times, got the camera going for the 5th and it fired up like a champ and sounded so sweet. I even had the plus lead slighty loose in case of needing to kill it quickly haha.
cannot wait to get a chain and take it for a ride!

and here is the youtube video of it firing up for the first time!

Very nice job.  Well done.  You have just raised the bar for everyone.
THAT is too good to ride  ;)
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

The digital pictures make it look a little better than it does in life.

digital tends to hide some scratches, the wheels are not perfect as they were in pretty bad shape. Just some small stuff nothing major.

I reckon it looks pretty damn good to me, especially for your first effort. I've seen bike builds from blokes who've been doing it for years that are way below this little X in standard. Good work Stevo ;).

I shudder to recall that I broke up an immaculate but engine shagged YZ125X back in the early 90's for the wheels for one project, the tank for Jonesy's SL125 Elsinore and the engine stripped and the various parts going to other club members projects. The seat went on my Champion XL350. I think I threw the frame over the fence at Penrith wreckers. :-[ In those pre Evo and pre '78 days the bike had no use other than for parts.
I guess we learn from our mistakes :'(.

Gday jim.
Im not entirely sure, as dad stripped the carby down and put it back. but i know we bought a carby kit on ebay from america. It was to suit yz125x, and kx400's. Im sure it was to stock specs/jet. I just had a quick look on ebay and cant find them now maybe it was the last one?
After i speak to dad ill get back to you on that one.

thanks mate. We did get a bit carried away, so wont be racing this one. I dont think we will ever ride it on the dirt  ???.

We've got another X that had a buggered motor and a few parts missing, that we are now going to build to ride/race.
