Vintage Bikes an Addiction?

I went into a blokes shed the other day and was dumbfounded to find that he only had one bike one car and one set of tools. Oh the misery :'(

Actually compared to a lot of the guys here I really have not been a 'trader', the quest for the perfect motorcycle, endless buying and selling.

I would describe myself more as a black hole, they disappear into the shed and never come out.

the pure pleasure of looking forward to the weekend to slink off to garage for the magical 'installation ritual'.  open the treasure chest that is the toolbox, stanley knife open the plastic packaging in which the treasured object comes lovingly encased, free it up for first look and feel......then gentle but determined insertion in the annointed place on the machine. 
AHHHH :)Brings back to me that unown excitement of xmas morning and even the disappointment of not getting what you asked for

Thankfully I get away with it as my girls dont like dolls, They rather get dirty, play video games, ATV, help me work on bikes, stuff like that

    I can justify all my rides because of the different uses and the face that the kids will grow into them, at least thats my story, if they can start them they can ride them, The TT500 was for street and trail, XS650 will be a proper street tracker, Hodaka cuz its cool and freindly, the TY's good for putting around or exploring new trails, the 78 IT for trail riding, the 76 IT cuz its first year, and the YZ250 for trail and vintage racing......
I usually bring the bike home and strip it down (takes up less space and helps it not look like to many bikes), then months later start bring it out piece by piece and start the rebuild. I have to admit sometimes it taked me a while to remeber where i stashed the parts though.

Yep I can control myself, first sign of addiction ..... I can also justify every bike purchase I have made, but given how few actually run one of the justifications is not going to be cheap transport.

But some of my justifications include, Ducatis in case i want to go fast on the road, Harley's to ensure I go slow on the road, pre 74 bikes because they have alloy tanks, KX250 because I had no green bikes, see perfect logic.

He's a good bloke but he doesn't have the keeper mentality, he's a minimalist by nature and action. I paid for his subscription to VMX every year as a Christmas gift but when I asked him where he kept them he told me that he chucked 'em out when he'd finished reading them, just like an old newspaper! Naturally he doesn't get a subscription for Christmas from me any more!

Sacrelidge .... desecration of the holy versus as they are known in our house. Mine live in the top of my bedside table where they are always within easy reach and disguise the gentlemans literature further down in the draw.
