New YZ250H Project
« on: October 05, 2011, 10:54:12 pm »
    Last weekend I picked up and 81 YZ250H, one of the bikes I have been on the lookout for. $300 and almost all original. I am looking forward to this rebuild. Forks are good (hopefully rear shock also), both rims are junk but good reason for a set of excels, motor will need a full rebuild as something is wrong inside, kick start shaft is messed up, will get all new plastics, etc etc.

This is the most complete project I have picked up so far!
Current rides/projects 75 MX125B, 75 TY250B, 75 Carabella Rally 175, 76 TT500 Ice bike, 78 IT400E 79 CB750F , 81 XS650H Street Tracker, 81 YZ250H X2, 93 DS80

Can't see your pictures dude  :-\
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

    Well if it makes anyone feel better Im sure I will have to through a few bucks at it. Lets see, motor $500, Wheels $500, new plastic $500, Tires chain a sprockets $500 and about $800-$1000 in small bits, actually $3300 isnt so bad is it?

You're probably right ::).  I paid $1000 for my bucket of bolts  :o :o

Go for it Cabmkr.  Make sure you take heaps of pictures before you start and post plenty of progress pics as you go.  The resto threads are the most interesting IMO.

I paid 3 grand for a 250 J last year, 1 owner. When i got it home and stripped the top end off it was on it;s first oversize. Awsome !!!!
So $300 for a half original, well done . Look forward to seeing the end result, good luck. Its's all about getting the old girls back on the track.
Restoring YZ 50,60, 80, 100 and 125. Racing a 490 and a 250. Have a complete collection of J,s.
