Age ( Class ) Exempt parts.
« on: September 29, 2011, 09:01:54 pm »
I'm currently working on both pre65 & pre70 class bikes.
What parts are non critical on these projects?
eg - handlebars, levers, cables, tyres ( obviously ) and, dare I say, Oil Tank?
Both bikes I have planned need a remote oil tank and there are heaps of off the shelf oil catch tanks available, am I wasting my time even considering these, or do I need to go original?

Steve, go for the aftermarket oil tank mate, you'll be still legal. All of the parts you mentioned are open as are shocks and ignitions.

74 Yamaha  flattracker's
70  Jawa 2 valve speedway's

Any ignition provided it does not change the external looks of original. Rule been like that for years. A lot of veteran VMX, Road Racers , Speedway have modern electronics fitted up and hidden inside their old maggys to be perfectly legal.

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
