Here's my 430 AE almost finished ! :)
My first Automatic.
The HVA Forum is sleeping down under ! Winter ?

Hi Michel,
Nice bike. I am a huge fan of Husky autos. I have plans of building one like yours, only I was going to use an '86 CR500 top end, an AE500 crank (with 430 AE left half shaft) in 430AE crankcases, dropped into an '84 WR400 frame. This is the bike that I think that Husqvarna should have made  ;). I just hope that I don't run into clearance issues with the exhaust pipe header, as the 500 cylinder is about 10mm higher than the 430. I may also have to make the rear cone section of the pipe longer to suit the 500. I see that the tank on your bike looks like a cut down '83 alloy one . I imagine that this would have taken a lot of work . I intend to use the original WR400 tank, as it should bolt straight on .

There's still 2 or 2.5 cm above the exhaust.

Not too much work in fact. You grind the material to adjust the tank to the radiators and frame.
You bend the 2 alloy plates and ajust them. A professionnal do the welding.

For these which ride 430 ae motors, what are your carb tuning ( main jet, needle, needle jet).

No difference in '82 & '83 tanks except the color. There are 2 different sizes though, CR is slightly smaller than WR/XC.

The 82 fuel hose touch the 83 side panels, not the 83 tank.

The WR tank is wider than the CR tank so that maybe the issue with fuel tap touching panel is due to tank model and not year?

I've checked all my tanks (7 of them) and one looks to be slightly bigger than the others and the fuel tap position may well be a few mm further out. I can date the others as '81/'82 for sure although not this one, so maybe the '83 was a tad larger. You learn something every day.
