How to loosen 247 crank nut?
« on: September 02, 2011, 05:07:47 PM »
Any tips/tricks to loosening the drive side (LHS) nut on the crank of a 247 Cota?

Looks like ordinary right hand thread to me

Ah!! If it's anything like the 349 you're in for a fun time. I can't remember if it's a left or right hand thread but a large puller and the judicious use of heat got it off for me. But with a bang! The bloody thing shot about 15m up into the air and a lot of people were diving for cover.

An air ratchet is your best bet for removing the nut. Nuts on the left side of the motor (primary side)
loosen counter clock wise. The magneto and the countershaft nuts loosen clock wise.
