MY XT500

I am not a four stroke guy but this year I have aquired two four stroke 500's. A 1982 XR500 and this 1980 XT500.

Just picked this up today has original mirrors in a bag I got with it and is all complete and nice nick the tank is very good too.

Are these very desirable I think I will keep it any way, thanks alot Michael.

This bike a mate of mine spotted and the guy rang me I sort of couldn't turn it down I am trying to save up to buy a Valiant Charger but when stuff like this comes along what can you do, thanks Michael.

I am not sure on 1980 though the comp. plate says 11/80 so is it a 1980 model or 1981 I think it might be 81 any one know for sure?

Yes, it'd be an 81. I had an 80 and they were black with silver.

Gold rims 81..... dude export it to the UK or Germany they go freaking nuts over the XT. NZ its has to be yellow or orange TT.... Aussie who knows.  Big difference between XT and TT in those years was alloy swing arm.

I have one the same that is awaiting an engine rebuild and then I will get Classic Reg. for it to cruise the streets.
I think these models are learner compliant too which is another bonus.
Mine has a small dent in the tank and is missing the sidecovers but otherwise looks similar to yours in that they are mostly unmolested, just weathered a bit.
They are a bit of an acquired taste, but generally a good thing.

Thanks for the comments guys the bike has done 61500km's I think when I get to it I will pull the motor and have it rebuilt apperantly it has been rebored and had new piston and rings but you can never be sure of that with out looking has very good comp though, thanks Michael.

as long as the engine dont consump or loss oil, compression is present and no unusual noises, just ride. It works!

spot on. There is a huge XT/TT/SR-community in europe with many international meetings, races etc. Some like it shiny, others use them what they're build for.

Gday Firko, the XR500 my mate gave me the same mate that is the original owner of my gt80 so I am going to keep it but if I ever consider selling I will let you know first.

Worms, the XT500 I don't need to sell so I probably won't.

Atleast I have the room now the xr500 I took for a spin the other day around the industrial estate it has some go it is still no PE400 but good fun.
