I think i'm looking at an 81 as it's air cooled with floater system.  Has straight wheels, (trying to find brake backing pplates and axles)  Front forks in good nick, motor turns over, no carby (looking for that too) cost $100.00 will put photo's up once I collect it

I think the RM250X engine was unique to that model and a biatch for parts from memory.
I'm still chasing an RM250X,Z,D roller if anyone knows of one to do a PE250 conversion oneday  ;D

isn't the CDI on the front of the head-stem?
Murphy's Law says the frame number will be behind it.

Frame numbers for the RM250X should resemble JS1RJ11A_B_100001 .

won't see the remnants until next weekend, but by all indications, info given and photo's looked at seems to be the 81 model.  Can feel another build coming on.  That makes two for next year the RM and a Rickman zundapp metisse

Well then, that's a good year to look forward to, buddy.

Beats the hell out of being used for traction at Narrogin, for a start... ;)
