Why not, it looks to be 90% kosher by our rulebook. To my eyes, the only questionable points are the later conical hubs and Mikuni carby. I've got one and a half of these engines so it'd be cool to build one for sure. Finding a Blizzard or Typhoon frame is the hard part as they weren't exactly as common as DT1 Yamahas.

So do I but the bloke won't sell it. "I'm gonna do it up one day" he reckons. Is your one available Paul?

Not sure if they're OK for pre 60 Mick but I'm pretty certain they're OK for pre 65. I think the fifties Maicos had leading link forks but perhaps the tele's came out in the late fifties. It's surprising just how much Maico used the same stuff for. My 1982 250 crank is almost a slip in to the fifties cases. Not quite but close. I think the squarie gearbox'll go in and the magnum clutch goes right on once a simple sleeve is made up. I reckon my planned oval barreled Maico/Sprite frame would be a pretty close competitor to a twin pipe CZ or Greeves for the class. I've got other projects to do but it'll be nice to get back into the Maicos again once my little Yamaha diversion has done its course. Let's also not forget the square barrel Maico Metisse which is already partly underway.

Like everything it all depends on how complete it is. You said frame and engine...are the rest of the bits there or is it a 'good nick' basket case? It's one of those things you'd have to see...there's not much of a market for them.
