I think you'll find it'll go for a lot less than that.. prices are down in the US compared to here.

Johnny O is correct - the reserve is WAY less than that!

There are heap of freight options, the budget ones will usually be small outfits, filling a sea container or back of a car some place and they will buy a part container load (PCL) which is then turned into a full container by sharing the space with other people.....it takes a while to consolidate a container to your destination.

A bigger company like LinFox, MainFreight etc will have a bunch of local partners and 3PL who help to fill the container and it is much faster but costs a bit more as you need full insurance, security etc etc etc.

Finally a third party logistics company (3PL) like Panalpina has its own containers on regular routes and dispatches regardless of whether it is full or not and will use air and sea to maintain delivery schedules, and it costs accordingly.

The evil part is that container shipping rates are at about 2003 levels despite 10x increase in bunker fuel costs etc.... so the shipping company isn't getting rich off his 200 million investment. The real cost is insurance, security checks, bio security, port clearances and the massive bureaucracy Governments have placed around shipping.

Air Freight .... now if you have something valuable, then don't discount air freight .... sometimes with all costs included it is very close to sea freight providing you can have the shipment boxed.

If you call Qantas the soon to be fired bitch serving you will quote you full IATA rate which is calculated off a non discount first class ticket etc etc .... if you go to Khuene and Nagel, Panalpina or similar, get past the bitch they have on the counter and talk to one of their agents .... the  you may be pleasantly surprised, usually airport customs and security is far cheaper as it is better set up for small consignments.

If you have to use an airline to ship try Emirates, they are run by two ex BA guys who want your business and are very flexible... on excess baggage everything

Gentlemen,
Just an update -the bike did not meet reserve - but we did sell to a buyer after the fact in the UK who missed the auction for $3,950. I was hoping with the rebuilt Fox Air Shocks that this bike would do a bit more - but again the market is tough right now. Kinda comes down to availability and how bad a buyer wants THAT particular bike. How many A5's are listed at any given time?

I do have a 78 KX250 A4 coming as well as the even harder to find 78 KX125 A4.........will post pics of those as they arrive / are completed.......

The big swap meet here in the US is this weekend at Mid Ohio so any US buying selling online will more than likely come to a halt as most are heading there to buy / sell.......probably a good time to be on eBay looking if there is something of interest.

$950 US total transport to any of the major ports in AUS - that's crating / ground transport / ocean freight / customs documentation - and insurance up to the full amount of the bike!!

I think your pricing is very good Jason, I'll seriously consider buying a bike from you, you looked after me when I've bought JT riding gear off you.

Hi
I'm waiting on a Suzuki RM370 I bought from East Coast Vintage MX back in late November, all going well should be here by the end of January. Once the bike was loaded on the ship it will take less then a month to get to Sydney and all up around 2 months for the whole purchase and delivery, but as I haven't received the bike yet that might change. I will post an update once the bike lands in Sydney.

I have found Jason from East Coast Vintage MX in the USA to be a decent person to deal with and helpful along the way.
Cheer

keep us posted as to how the whole sale/delivery goes.  I have been talking to Jason recently - he also looked after me with my JT gear - and I think he has the best bikes advertised commercially at the moment.
