Phillistine ...... you can eat my Storz  .... anyways XR1000 is quite rare, exclusive and the closest thing you will get to a factory Harley race bike in that price bracket. Real mans bike that will put hair on your chest.

Don't listen to the knockers Marc. XR750 Harleys have more racing pedigree than almost everything that is ever written about on this forum.
I'm sure that there wouldn't be any more highly developed 2 valve engines in the world.

Yeah don't worry Bill's bikes racing pedigree's were mostly presented at Crufts.

One of the guys I know in Tokyo has an ex Springsteen XR750, it snaps off the throttle like a top fuel dragster, seriously you would need balls of cast iron to wring it around an oval. Most people don't realise just how hard HD engines can go with the right head carb and pipe.

A few here saw the 2 factory XR750's race at Parklands longtrack some time back (late 90's?) and 'eFF me did they haul ass and sound awesome.

I saw Jay Springsteen riding one at the Redcliffe showground about 10 years ago and it ran like a backfiring Massey Ferguson on 1 cylinder with a shit load of noise and no go!

Yes I rode a very similar model for a couple of years, exceedingly good performance but very very high maintenance, finally I decided it was probably faulty from the factory and traded on a different brand and newer model.

The price of 25-30K NZD is pretty much ball park for what you would expect to pay for XR1000. It was only produced briefly in 83/84, production run was not much more than a couple of hundred. Was not famous for its reliability ..... 67 hp but could be kitted to get 100hp.
