ProForm pipe for YZ250D
« on: June 22, 2011, 10:36:58 am »
Hi guys n gals.  I recently acquired a very nice YZ250D and was looking for a ProForm (spelling??) pipe for it as I have been told from someone that raced one these were good for smoothing out the power delivery.  I've checked evilbay both in Aust and US but can't seem to find any for sale or any leads on who might be selling them.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get one of these pipes from to suit my YZ?

Thanks in advance
Craig

Thanks for that but no 77 model pipes (even the 79 YZ250F is sold out  :))

Or should I just contact them and ask?

Thanks Paul, I'm spoilt for choice it seems.  Does anyone know about their "jetting kit"?

Seems advertising in 45 issues of VMX mag has been wasted ;D

I have heard that the stock 250 and 400 pipes are the same but logically they should be a bit different.
I haven't had a chance to set up for a 250 D yet (which should be the same as a 250 E??)
I prefer to have a bike in so I can set it up properly. These models are very tight in the stinger area around the shock and airbox. they only have to be slightly out and they will foul.

This is about the only photo on file I can find of the 400 D pipe which is typical of my work

Geoff the 250E has a completely different engine to the D so the pipes may not interchange.

Thanks for your response Geoff.  I have read your PM response and it's a pity you can't help with this model at this stage.

Re the advertising ... I doubt it's been a waste of time however I have never purchased the VMX mag previously ... although I subscribed at CD8 so will get them for the next 12 months at least and will make it a point to read your ad  :)

Cheers
Craig

PS. Nice work by the way  8)

Thanks John
Is it the bore and stroke that is different?
I'm led to beleive they share the same engine spigot fitment which changed for 79

Just looked up zedder, it seems the 250 D shares the cylinder & crank with the IT 250 D & E
I would have thought the IT would have had different porting?

Well one half of the crank is the same as 250 E so I guess they were the same stroke.

The 250E went to smaller engine cases and a 6 speed gearbox and is the same as the F engine. The 400 didn't get the new engine til the F model.
I think the 250 bore and stroke stayed the same but the engine is smaller and lighter.
