So what you are saying is u bid, then win it and he then advises the reserve is XXX amount and u have to pay that???

Please don't say yes to that.

If u do I will report him myself.

thats pretty much it. You don't "have" to pay his reserve, he just won't sell it to you for less regardless of the bid price. Clearly he has no idea how to have an auction with a reserve. "Technically" he is obliged to sell it at the winning bid price, but good luck with that. Probably just easier to ring him and ask how much he thinks they're worth and what he wants for them.

i myself and mates have been caught by ppl deliberately miss using ebay structure, too tight to pay the reserve fee or just dont care.

So i sent the guy a fairly friendly email on all our behalf's

see below.

Hi mate,

just wondering you have listed at the bottom that bike has to meet a reserve, ebay doesnt work that way unless at the start you choose to add a reserve to the proper selling structure and ebay charge you for that.

If the winning bid came to 700$ you would be obliged to sell.

Easier way to cover your backside is to list at the bottom of the add that

"item is for sale elsewhere apart from ebay, i reserve the right to remove from ebay at anytime"

that allows you to pull it down anytime if you see the price is too low.

even this method is frowned upon by ebay.

just thought id let you know as the link to your sale on ebay is on many motorbike forums with alot of ppl stating "not this guy again" in reference to you selling items, as ppl winning the sale have then had you stating this is the price otherwise you cant have it etc...cant really use ebay for that type of sale.

good luck and cheers mate

Good point Wombat why not start at $700 if he does not know how to do a reserve price, instead of this  Bullshirt he's on about but don't forget his poor percentage rate which is not an option for me
