Interesting CZ's at Nor Cal Classic
« on: June 14, 2011, 02:01:20 am »
Brad Lackey had one of his CZ's on display at his Nor Cal Classic.

And there was a Twin Piper being raced both days.

Brads' must be a Jiri Staric bike being new. He uses later model internals. The blue tank is another clue. Good to see no one worries about a bit of noise either as the racer has the original straight through pipes. My Dads' made it to classic dirt on the weekend and I gave it a start. I can only imagine the amount of noise 30 or 40 of bikes with no mufflers running around the paddock would sound like. I was told there were only 900 made.
Dads' was a real labour of love. The motor was flogged within an inch of it's life, not to mention the motor had been pulled apart with a shifter and a tool box full of screwdrivers. It will get a run when fully sorted.

The clutch runs directly off the crank

You pull the lever in on the left side of the handlebars.

The serious answer is it's an outer cable push system, you can use the inner for pull or the outer for push - obviously inner pull is the most common. Note the welded on lever perches.

Beautiful bikes except all the front wheels are on the wrong way 'round.

I really like the clutch cable guide on the exhaust..nice touch..just a pity that they are not eligible for pre 65....must run in pre 70 ...up against a side pipe....

It is locked off at the case, this outer push cable system is more common than you think away from motorcycles.

That's a cheap twin port at this time ($6500), wonder where it will end up ....

It might as well be $1 seeing as it hasn't made reserve. It would only be cheap if there was no reserve at that price.
