DRZ 400E
« on: June 07, 2011, 05:02:33 pm »
Hey guys I'm after some advice.I'm looking at buying a 07 DRZ 400E with 640km and rego till september for $6000. I enquired about a brand new one 2011 model and can pick one up for $7,790. Any advice as to which way I should go?? If I went the new one could I haggle the price down and get them to include free stuff as well ;) or am I dreaming??

Do you have a trade or is it a cash deal. Free stuff is always the easiest to get as it costs the dealer much less than he is telling you. Also try going in about the 28th of the month onward, the dealers have a floor plan often based on units shifted, so you may snag a dealer wanting to shift a bike quickly to make his discount volume..... my cousin got 10 grand off a Nissan ute that way.

Personally I would offer $5200 for the 2007 model and then negotiate up from there, it is buyers market.

Have had a DRZ400 since new 2004 and its been trouble free unlike my brothers WR450 that costs him a truckload. Just get the suspension set to suit, the rear is a tad saggy but once sorted they are  a great thing/
at the milage I would haggle the 2007 down to the best deal. I would start at 5500 for cash and hold out, you wont be dissapointed.

Warranty on the new one?
They don't have any real trouble spots, but a factory warranty gives you a buffer is something goes wrong.

The free/discounted stuff is only really valuable if you're going to buy it anyhow - otherwise its just more crap in the shed/drawer.
For example, If you were planning on buying a full set of new riding gear and the shop gave you a big discount on it to seal the deal on the bike, then its probably worth buying the new bike. But if they offer to throw in a Suzuki T-shirt, then...
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

DRZ400,is good for casual trail riding. I had one tuned suspension front and rear, full yoshi titanium exhaust,
It went well but the harder you rode it,well it just wore you out.

Sold it got a TXC250 husky new $6999.00,done 80hrs 2500kms valves been shimed at 2200kms,(I do them myself real easy the cams stay in place inlike the DRZ ) Check out your local Husky dealer for prices there pretty good at the moment

Yeah you miss the grunt but its so light and I can push it a lot harder then a DRZ.

Gosh its a shame a slow 4 stroke trail bike can go so Fast !!
