I bought a VF750F in 1983. Had it for 18 months and it spent 8 of those months in the workshop........................  >:(

I remember a long term review of those referring to "Chocolate cams" as a major problem

Yep that was correct of the first VF 750's as we lived 3 doors up form the local Honda dealer at Sandgate and was a known problem but they did make a good Castrol 6 hour bike! as apposed to the 1000R that was beaten by a RZ500

I've had some fast (and slow) roadies over the years but I loved my my original Bol d'or 900 better than all of them. It wasn't the fastest but it out far out handled  the GPZ 1100 b1 that replaced it. it was so reliable, I can't recall anything ever going wrong with it. I'd love a Bol D'or to restore. (or a Mk1 Z1R Kwaka).

Just make sure it has a good crank before you part with your 'hard earned'  :o ::).

If ya gonna restore a roadie at least have some class  ;D. Something with a close association with racing and champions, something Yamaha and something two stroke  ;D . something that goes hard, something collectable, and something that punchs above it weight  ;) :D ;D 8)

You want be disappointed. They're great to work on. Everything is still available, lots of simple 'go fast' mods from 'too hard to spot' (ask the ex-proddie boys  ::)) to 600cc Banshee replacements. And still a great bike to ride - there's nothing quite like a two stroke 'coming on to pipe' to get the senses tingling  8) ;) ;D.

(I think Lozza must be snoozing  ;) :))
