Mate not sure but l thought that the 1980 model was the first of the prolink rear end, which would be inelidgable for Evo, dont no........

Good bikes, more euro style power than R/RZ. The last evo legal model, '81 was the first liquid cooled/pro link. Not EVO legal with a 480 engine in them but, although they should be IMO.

They have different port outlet to 79 and found my 1980 smoother motor than the 79

they are a great bike,in some ways better than the earlier 78/79 models. Top end power isnt the saame but the spread is much better, geomerty is better ,forks are better .Most parts are interchangeable with the earlier models except for the centre port top end pipe etc. swingarm is longer and forks are shorter give sit a different weight bias.

Only the '79 CR125 had the 23" front wheel.

There wasn't much that was awefull about the RA's , maybe the shocks first , swingarm second.

Don't always need rev. I remember a guy at Smithton 1981 who beat Micheal Kelleher's on a KX420 with a box stock 250RA except for Ohlins. He later went out in the open  race a got 5 th in a big field with  Grant Cramer and some fast Taswegians on big bore's.

suspension is always the priority - but the mugen kit on these made them really hammer - gave the 500's a run for their money on grass track at Rocky Cape  ;D 1981

Weren't the RA model CRs made in USA, instead of Japan ?
