Amal concentric carb float needle valve
« on: April 28, 2011, 07:41:22 am »
When setting the float height, do you need to allow for the slack in the float tangs and the float needle? i.e. there is a bit of play and it appears the float needle floats, unless the tangs are firmly holding it down, causing flooding.  Under normal operation is there any chance of fuel starvation at FT when the float needle valve doesn't float?

Cheers,
Steve

assume your'e moving the float needle seat for adjusting float level,if it's a two stroke bowl, there should be an extra cutaway for maximised fuel delivery once needle has lifted off seat, don't concern yourself with floats retaining/pivot pin movement,(they all do that  ;D),unless it's worn,i've seen some fairly flogged float pins, actually tapered, think extra vibes from high revs in mk1's,Mk 2 square bodies generally rubber spigot mounting solves that wear problem!,hth? :P
work, the curse of the racing class!!
if a hammer dosn't fix it,you have a electrical problem!!
